BLACK LIVES MATTER

WHITE WASHED
The phrase was something I thought to be true until my friends and family reminded me that with or without it, it doesn’t define me. I do.” - Ian Hartdige

MORE THAN ENOUGH
“'Not black enough and not asian enough'—growing up we struggled with our multi-cultural identity as the blending of our backgrounds made it difficult to find one place of belonging. Where did we fit in? But over the years, we’ve grown to learn and embrace each part of our heritage as an equally important piece of a diverse whole. We are more than enough.” - Megan & Jenna

The Soft Black Woman
“Often times, black women are labeled as the 'angry black girl' or 'too aggressive' when speaking on emotion or correcting someone. The soft aesthetic often carries an association with vulnerability. To be soft is too be innocent, a state that can be easily exploited and, therefore, makes the soft person vulnerable. Black women are never given this space. At young ages we are hyper-sexualized and considered women before we even know what that means. we deserve the space to be soft, delicate, vulnerable and whatever the hell else we want to be. I am a black woman and I reject the role you have written for me.”
